BIOGRAPHY

Roman Wood, contributing artist for Meha Shamayim and recording artist on Galilee of the Nations Records has just released an independent album with his wife, Alaina. The husband and wife duo have emerged onto the Messianic music scene with their 2009 release, Sounds of Prayer, and are now traveling throughout the world sharing the love of Hashem.

Roman and Alaina met in Nashville TN, where they both moved to pursue music, Alaina finishing a bachelor’s degree in Religion and Arts from Belmont University and Roman launching his first album Meha Shamayim, From the Heavens.

Both Roman and Alaina were exposed to music from a young age, Roman growing up in the south end of Seattle to a family of musicians, and Alaina growing up in Toronto, Ontario dancing and taking voice lessons from a young age.

Sounds of Prayer, which has been labeled a “CD with a vinyl soul,” features acoustic guitar, mandolin, banjo, harmonica, and two-part harmonies. With influences ranging from jazz, funk, black gospel, and country to more acoustic folk, Roman and Alaina bring to the Messianic music scene an inspiring and inventively new sound that creates organic, contemplative music to calm your mind and open your heart.

Veteran music producer Leonardo Bella felt it was essential to preserve the warmth and intimacy of Roman and Alaina's vocal blend. He has accomplished this on Sounds of Prayer by keeping the musical surrounding very open and acoustic. Leonardo's arrangements and musical performances interact with Roman's unique guitar sensibility in a way that leaves lots of space for the songs to breathe and connect to the heart, while his background in audiophile recording has brought an up front and organic sound to this project.

The duo’s music, designed to bring people of diverse backgrounds together to worship the G-d of Israel, leaves listeners spiritually refreshed and inspired. Through their ministry, Roman and Alaina are actively involved in both the church and the Jewish community. The couple focuses their outreach efforts towards an emergent generation of seekers interested in pursuing an ancient faith and a more contemplative practice informed by its Jewish roots.
